At the end of June, around 200 guides, rangers, young leaders along with their adult leaders from Girlguiding Gwent gathered together at Llandegfedd Lake for a full weekend of exciting activities.

As part of our Summer adventures events girls from units all over Gwent county took part in some of the more adventurous activities that Llandegfedd  Lake has to offer.

Our day was split into watersports and land-based  activities ensuring a good variety of interest and opportunity for girls to try something new.

And the activity choices were a little unusual….. It’s not every day you get to try axe-throwing or archery, laser clay shooting or pedal-boarding. There was something for everyone – even the leaders were keen to ‘have a go’. We have the photos to prove it !

The weather was kind to us and after our morning sessions enjoying 4 different sports, we enjoyed a picnic lunch and once refreshed were ready to take on another 4 action-packed pursuits.

The instructors were very encouraging, engaging  and very good humoured ensuring that the girls had a great experience and leaders had a much easier day than we had first hoped!

We had a graffiti board so all could write some feedback or thoughts about the weekend.  I must admit – it was a great success with very positive reviews from all attendees, the only negative comments were that we weren’t doing it again the next weekend ! Everyone seemed to enjoy it and it has given us the taste for more adventurous day trips and events … so watch this space.

Thank you to all the girls and leaders who participated and made this a fabulous event, the parents who enabled their girls to take part by ferrying excited girls there and tired girls home again….and of course

Many thanks Llandegfedd….. in the words of Arnie … “we’ll be back”
